Headteacher's Letter, May 2019

Dear Parents,

We are delighted to inform you that the letter sharing the outcome of our inspection by Ofsted last week has been published.

Our inspection was a 'Section 8' inspection, the term used for a short inspection of a school which is currently rated 'Good', and the outcome was the best possible. The inspector found that we have "much to celebrate" and she is recommending that in the next year we are inspected again. That 'Section 5' inspection will last two days and could result in the school being rated 'Outstanding'.

The inspector said that, in her opinion, the school demonstrated "strong practice" and "marked improvement in specific areas". She said that our "pupils thrive in the very positive environment created by teachers and leaders", that we have an "exceptionally nurturing culture in which pupils feel included and valued" and that our pupils are "exceptionally well stimulated by the challenging topics they study".

We don't know when the next inspection will take place, but it will be during the next academic year, before 23rd June 2020 (as it is five years since our last Section 5 inspection). We will be given half a day's notice, as we were for last week's inspection.

We are delighted by the result as it is the very best it could have been and we hope you can see in the pages of the letter how positive the inspection was.

We want to do everything we can to reach that 'Outstanding' rating and we would like your help to get us there. In the next academic year, there are important changes to the school curriculum taking place and we will be holding an evening for parents, to share our vision with you, on 26th September at 7.30pm. These approaching changes are in areas we are already focused on as a school, and will be a focus for Ofsted when they inspect again.

Do enjoy reading the letter posted in the Ofsted 2019 section on this page. Thank you again for your input into the inspection, for your continued support of our school and the close links we have between home and school. What amazing children and families! What an outstanding team of staff in school! There is not a single member of the team that doesn't contribute significantly to the life of our school and the brilliant opportunities our children have.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank every member of the whole Brill Team for their skills and expertise in their roles; the genuine care we all share for our children and the drive to facilitate the very best learning opportunities for our children. Our constant aim of helping our children be the best they can be alongside our motto of having 'The Wind in Our Sails' has been recognised by the inspector and I just want to say thank you to everyone who is part of Team Brill.

Yours sincerely,

Louise White
